Agnes Perreira

Agnes Araujo Perreira, 102, of Hilo, died Sept. 3, 2018, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born on Oct. 11, 1915, in Hilo, she was the proprietor of the Co-op Nursery School and member of First United Protestant Church.

She is survived by daughter, Margo P. Aguiar of Hilo; son, Wesley T. Perreira of Hilo; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

James Michael

James Henry Michael, 54, of Mountain View, died Aug. 30 at home. He was born in Brookhaven, N.Y. and was a quarry operations heavy equipment operator, a beekeeper and loved his cocker spaniel ohana.

Private family services were held.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Michael of Mountain View; sons, Henry Michael of New York, David Granger of Missouri and Benjamin Granger of Pepeekeo; daughter, Jennifer Michael of New York; sisters, Angela (Dan) Overshire of New York and Randi (Billy) Griffin of North Carolina; hanai mother, Randi Vogt of New York; three grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donald Brown

Donald “Don” Jimmie Brown, 76, of Honaunau, died Sept. 12, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 20, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was a farmer.

Private service held.

He is survived by son, Todd (Rhonda) Brown of Honaunau; daughter, Kerry (Keith) Colvin of Holualoa; and five grandchildren.

Chester Caravalho

Chester “Magee” Daniel Caravalho, 69, of Hawi, died Sept. 7, 2018, at home. Born Dec. 5, 1948, in Kohala, he was a golf course mechanic at Waikoloa Golf Course, U.S. Navy veteran and member of ILWU.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Elwyn Caravalho of Hawi; sons, Torry (Dara) Caravalho, Brycen (Shanda) Caravalho and Kolby Caravalho of Hawi; mother, Dora Caravalho of Kapaau; brothers, John (Willie) Calvo of California, Nelson Caravalho of Hawi, Fred Caravalho of Kapaau; sisters, Brenda (Augustine) Santiago of Kapaau, Theresa (Melton) Gamayo of Keaau; seven grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leslie Miller

Leslie Henry Miller, of Keauhou, died Aug. 17, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Huntington Beach, California.

He was a self-employed innovator in the oil business in Huntington Beach, California, an accomplished concert violinist, and loved working with plants including creating bonsai.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Pamela Luby.

He is survived by wife, Loraine Miller of Keauhou; son, Ron Miller; siblings, Lloyd Miller, Joan Turner, Jeanne Pogue, and Penne Burkhard, along with numerous nephews and nieces and one granddaughter.
